Random Family 2

In the beginning there happened so much and was a lot of characters. But then later it went not so intense. It would be very hard to read the book if it all was like in the beginning. For me this book is like watching some movie, interesting.

Random Family

Wow! This book is so intense and shocking. I've never read something like this. I never thought that people live like the characters in the book. It's so interesting to read it. Every time i stop reading it I wonder what's next.

Pair 9

Of course drugs, alcohol, and partying is not a way of coping with stress in celebrity's life. Ordinary people can't do that, and so are they. Britney could be on drugs, but could not. I don't know. Maybe. To shave her hair could cause only her "crazy" brain.

Pair 8

I have no idea why people still go watch scary movies even though they are going to be scared. I don't like scary movies and don't watch them, but one time my friends made me watch one, because it was as they said "very good and interesting". For scary parts I just closed my eyes and when it was gone my friends said that I can open my eyes. The movie was really interesting and in some parts even funny. It was about people who survived airplane crush and the death was chasing them. There were few people that could predict its coming and in this way people lived longer, but still died, and those scenes were grouse. However, main characters survived. The death ended chasing those people because was born a baby, that at the time of airplane crush was not born.

Pair 7

I think that it is good to control child birth, but not in such cruel ways. If there was no child birth control, soon there would be no place for nature, reservations, forests and animals, and people would live only in the apartments with no yards, maybe there would be some parks. I don't want that future.

Pair 6

If I was a judge I would judge those police officers as regular people, because they aren't any gods or something like that. Everyone has to get what he deserves. I don't know much about laws, so I can't say exactly what my decision would be.

Pair 4

In my opinion president should be honest as much as possible, because I don't believe that politician can be fully honest, and not promising all unbelievable things. Also I think that president should always avoid wars. I don't know if Obama and Clinton fit these qualities, but Bush definitely not.

Pair 3

In my school there was no violence, but in other schools there were just some fightings between groups of guys. And there is no such thing as hit list, I've read of it today in class for the first time. As was said in class, those who really want to harm somebody and have a hit list, won't publish it. But if it is published there has to be taken some safety precautions.

Pair 2

I think that voting should not be changed from voting for the best to voting for the worst, because the worst is gonna have the smallest amounts of votes anyway if voting for the best. Voting for the worst is like voting for the best, but just vice verse. So it doesn't matter in which way to vote, someone is definitely will go away.

Pair 1

I think that in some way fairy tales do teach a moral, but only kids. When you grow up you stop believing in them and they are not taken seriously. In my opinion only old fairy tales are safe for the children, because in a modern fairy tales and cartoons there is added violence, like some fighting.

The Alchemist

For the assignment for the break I went to the Barns&Noble to choose and buy a book. One lady, that was working there, recommended me to buy a book that was called The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I heard before that he was a good writer, so I bought it. Although the writer is Brazilian, the book is like one of the Arab fairy tales. It is about one boy, who was from Spain, that twice had a dream about treasure near the Pyramids. Then he decides to make his dream come true. The whole book is about accomplishing and making all the effort to realize your dreams.

FINAL Project

For the final project I plan to make web-site with pictures and writing. I'll make it colorful and interesting. Now I'm undeclared, but maybe I will major in business. I already have information on the web-site about different jobs. I'll try to interview my economics professor. I think it will be fun doing this project.

Rights!!!

Everybody has rights, but from somebody they were taken away, why people are so cruel? Why muslims are humiliating their women? Maybe because they hate them? When I was reading "Kite Runner" I was in shock how they treat women. I think the UN has to try many times in different ways if not make women iqual, then have more rights. I cannot think of any other ways.

Letter

This week I've got a letter from my classmates, whom car hit in December 2005, doctors said that one of them will not live and now she even can write! However, she had to learn to write again, but her hand writing is the same as before. I'm so glad for her.
That accident happened in the beginning of December 2005. These two girls were returning from the party by foot. There were no cars on the road. On half way home, there was driving drunk driver and hit them. He even didn't call emergency, he just took to the car one of the girls, the one who was not seriously injured, and the other one left there lieing on the ground, maybe she thought that she is already... At first, that girl in the car driver wanted to throw in the river, but somehow changed his mind and drew her to the hospital. Right after that car was going taxi and the driver saw girl lieing and called emergency. After that she was in coma for few months. My school, church and neighbourhood was collecting money for her medicine and it still was not enough. But somehow her mother made it, she believed that she will be healthy and it happened. School let her just graduate from school. The driver was not imprisoned, just payd some little sum, because he was assistant of the public prosecutor.
I can't wait until I got home and see all of my friends.

Gender roles

I grew up in the family with distinct difference between man and woman. A man should always be strong, know how to repair things, do hard work at home, be the head of the family(woman sometimes can be the neck and where it turns the head will follow). A woman should always know how to cook sew, do the laundry and other housework, be caring and raise children. That's how I was taught, to obey men, but also have own opinion. In most countries society accepted women equal to men, they could have professions that men have, even go to the army. Many women even became the head of a state, for instance Angela Merkel. But in Islamic world women are still considered as slaves to men. In my opinion, men and women are humans with slight differences in structure of the body, not more.

Midterms...tests...(

Next week I will have midterms. There are already tests...(((

Today was horrible day. Today I had an appointment with my counselor. To be on time I went earlier because I knew that today trains go by another schedule. First train train to Newark was on time. I arrived to Newark at 11:15. There I found out that trains to MSU today will go only after 4pm. I was in shock. I had 1:30 appointment, 2:30 math test, all that I missed. In addition I forgot cash so I couldn't go by bus. I had no lunch. Eventually I got to MSU. It was 4:30pm. Math Professor had office hour today from 5:15 to 6:30, so I thought I could talk to him, but he never showed up. Trains in the afternoon didn't go to Newark. Surprise! It's good that my dad didn't go to Albany today, but only tomorrow, and picked me up. I got home at 7pm. I missed the test and I don't know what will happen with my grade...

Okean Elzi "Let me go"

Just funny song :)
TNMK "Ta ti sho"

Peace!

I think genocide is like a war, but one side is very strong and another very weak. It has to be stopped as soon as possible. I feel bad for those kids who grew up in this environment that was mantioned in the Kite Runner.

Some people in the world are cruel

Genocide happened all over the world for many centuries. Now, when we may think that everything is civilized in 21st century, it also happens. However, now are created organizations that help to fight or prevent genocide. There were made measures and maybe some genocides will be prevented. I hope there will be no more of them.

Genocide...

Why does genocide keeps happening? It is because there are mentally ill people that want to kill or limit rights of those who are different from them. It happened because there was nobody to stop those kind of sick people. I cannot think of something to stop it. Maybe if it did happened someone should stop the leader first, imprison him, then it will be easier to stop his followers. That's the only thing that I can think of.

Tickets

I'm very homesick now. Only in May I will be able to go home and will go. I have the last final May 9, and on May 10 I will fly, no - I hope to fly because I have no tickets yet.
I know for sure on what day I want to departure, but when to return? I want to stay at home as long as possible, but I can't. There is one problem, my mom wants that she and my sister will come here for a month (8/1-8/29). I don't want to return then, and my sister doesn't want because on 8/7 she will have anniversary with her boyfriend and she wants to celebrate it with him and not with us. I understand that, but my parents don't. I have to return to the U.S. with my mom and sister, together...
I don't know what to do. I miss my friends and family, and I know that they miss me too.

Night

Not frequently I read books with such interest as I have read this one. When I was reading I thought what will be next and continued to read. It went very easily. The most fascinating part was in the end, when everybody thought that boy's father have died but he didn't, and the last chapter where boy's father was sick and died. I never thought that the boy can be glad that his father died. Also couldn't imagine that those children weren't wondering where are their parent. It's maybe because I didn't go through what they did.

Who I am

HI! My name is Tetyana, but everybody calls me Tanya. I was born and grew up in Ukraine. I came to the U.S. in July 2006. I live with my dad. When I came here I saw a different world. I like university, but I don't like the place that I live at. However, I miss my home, family and friends.
The goal for this class is to learn English well. By reading a lot I know that I will improve my English. I'm very happy that this university offers such course. If there was no course like this I would have to study by myself, I would not like that.
